Biography

Shannon E. Maxey
Psychic Medium
Shannon Maxey was born in San Antonio, Texas. From a young age her family told her about
the many instances of After Death Communication they had experienced over the years, often when there
was a family crisis. Shannon
took this information as “no big deal; something that happens with every
family, more or less.” At
age 8, she had a spontaneous vision of her essential self as a being of
light or energy, and realized that
who she really was had much more insight and wisdom than an eight year old
child. By the time she became
a teenager, her intuitive experiences
had increased, but she had also learned that not everyone expected these or
appreciated them. She asked the
universe to make them stop at that time because she was becoming uncomfortable
with them, and they did.
By
age twenty, however, her interest in the memory of her early experiences returned
and she sought out people in the area who could help her understand the nature
and extent of her psychic abilities. She sat in several “reading”
circles for a while, and learned to trust the information she was able to
receive. She also met Pete
Sanders of Free Soul, a non-profit psychic education group. Pete
is the interesting product of a psychic devotee mother and a Massachusetts Institute
of Technology education in BioMedical Chemistry and Brain Science. He
helped her to understand her talents in a way that lead to more control and
precision in her readings.
But
Shannon was already very involved and successful in corporate America by then, and
did not consider giving up her career to attend to her mediumship full time. She did discernments, sometimes spontaneously, for friends and acquaintances
when there was a pressing need.
Then,
in 1996, she became ill and unable to keep working. After over two years of very restricted activity, her
illness began to be more manageable, allowing her to have some energy and
reduced pain. At that point, in
1999, she and her husband, Graham, decided to launch Inquire Within.
Since committing to her practice full time, Shannon has become quite
well-known within the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex for her accuracy,
compassion, and warmth. She was featured on a KXAS NBC5 news segment on
psychic practitioners after they noticed she read for long lines of people
at a local Fitness Expo sponsored by that station. She was also a guest on Dallas radio’s Kidd Kraddick In
The Morning program, and a local metaphysical radio program, The Quest,
twice this year. She has spoken
and done discernments at the Dallas/Fort Worth Holistic Expo
in 1999 and 2000, which also hosted names such as Dr. Wayne Dyer, and
George Anderson. She makes
twice yearly speaking appearances at the Holistic Networker’s Wellness
Expo, and she and Graham have produced many one-evening seminars,
Connecting With Spirit, around the area.
Shannon
limits her practice to working with people who are, in some way, needing to
contact someone who has crossed over. She refers those clients who are
looking for predictions about their future, or just curious about the process,
to other practitioners. She feels
that in working only with loss and grief clients she can use her abilities in an area where they will
be the most helpful.
She
and Graham live in Arlington, Texas with their four cats. She enjoys gardening, riding
roller-coasters, and loves ice-skating.
She was also a guest on Dallas radio’s
Kidd Craddock In
The Morning program.
