Recognizing messages from Spirit

by Shannon Maxey

As we awaken to our lives the answers to our questions become more easily recognized.  Being aware of my psychic and mediumistic abilities has not automatically opened my eyes to all the answers I receive to my questions on a daily basis.  Spirit uses a myriad of ways to communicate with us.  Recently I was struggling with a question.   I was reviewing my life and thinking about how this one young man that physically attacked me had been an incredible teacher for me.  Without the experience of the attack I would not have come to understand true forgiveness.  I kept wondering about this one English teacher of mine in high school who had some very harsh words for me at a particularly difficult time in my life. What was she trying to teach me?  The next day I received or I should say finally heard my answer.

I had a 9 o’clock appointment that morning in Fort Worth and the night before my guides told me I would need to go the back way and avoid the highway. One of the ladies I had the appointment with even called me that morning and suggested I take the back route to avoid heavy traffic on the highway.  As I pulled out of my drive I started to go toward  the highway.  I turned the car around yielding to the compelling  feeling to go the back way as my friend and guides suggested.

On the way to my appointment I was stopped at a long light at a busy intersection in Arlington when I saw a dog wandering on the other side of the road.  I asked my angels and guides to take care of this dog until I could come back and try to help him.  I thought, “If he’d just stay on that side of the road and not try to cross the street he should be OK until I come back.”  Just as I was turning left onto the busy street the dog began to cross the street right in front of me. I put on my hazard lights and stopped in the street. I didn’t want to honk my horn, I didn’t want the dog running into a moving car.  After a few very tense moments the dog continued across the street completely stopping traffic in the other direction and then turned and moved back in front of my car. I decided to honk my horn to try to scare the dog off the road.  He looked so startled and confused by the noise but then shook it off and walked off the road to safety.   “How weird was that,” I thought.  The whole incident just seemed too bizarre to me and I began to wonder what it was about.

I began to consider what it looked like from the dog’s perspective.   While I was in my car all I could think about was the dog’s safety.  My intention was to get the dog out of the dangerous road he was about to cross.  But looking at me in my car from the dogs point of view I must have looked angry and foreboding, this large metal thing making an obnoxious noise.

It occurred to me some of the people in my life I had seen as angry and foreboding may have had the same appearance I did in my car that day.  My English teacher wasn’t trying to teach me something she was redirecting me, changing my current course. I am grateful now for her redirection and relieved by my new awareness of that experience.

As I look back I can see many times I was redirected and subsequently guided through valuable experiences.  Spirit communicates with us in many different ways and you don’t have to be a psychic medium to hear, see or feel the messages.  You do however need to look, consider, and be grateful for the message.
